Personal Training Programs

Motus Personal Training is centred around education, strength and long term sustainability of physical health and wellness. Both Scott and Jacob have over 10 years experience each in multiple systems, modalities and internships.

Here you will go through a full health assessment, functional movement screen and begin working on a custom program for your individual needs and goals.  Experience and knowledge bring an appreciation for each clients' unique dynamic, individuality and goals. Personal Training is an investment in education and wellness that gives back as you move through life better able to embrace the confidence of your body.  


Semi Private Group Classes

Experience a semi-private group class in a supportive and challenging environment! Here you will learn and experience the fundamentals of strength training, metabolic work and healthy lifestyle. 

Group classes are great as a stand alone for the intermediate level. Clients often integrate one on one training and group classes for the added motivational experience of a group. Classes are typically no more then 6 ppl.  

Corporate Wellness INitiatives

Motus Training Studio offers an exciting new look at corporate wellness. This is a hot topic among today's high demand corporate market. Many companies are actively involved in supporting their culture with wellness in the workplace. Although seminars contain an array of knowledge in fitness/movement, nutrition and mindfulness we focus on delivering the content through a platform of adopting a solid and healthy "mindset" around wellness in the workplace.  

Jacob and Scott are both instructors in the field with experience leading small and large groups through custom health and wellness seminars. They also work in the post graduate level and lead various seminars and courses in the industry. Whatever your needs and goals as an organization or company Scott and Jacob will bring new energy and focus to any initiative.

Jacob Lay

Scott's clients and students find him through referrals from other health professionals, thoughtful friends and colleagues or at his seminars. Often called a "movement specialist", Scott works with people returning from injury, dealing with movement disorders like Parkinson Disease and increasingly parents and youth. As a father (of two... so far) Scott is focused on creating physical literacy and encouraging exploration and creative play for life in kids of all ages.

As a Functional Movement Specialist (FMS I&II), Fundamental Movement Skills (Coaching Canada's FMS), Neurokinetic Therapist (NKT I&II) and advocate of Dr. Stuart McGill's "Building the ultimate spine" approach to health and performance training with Scott is not your typical adventure.

Teaching at Guelph-Humber College in their post-grad program and at SETU Yoga in their teacher-training and open-lecture series helps Scott stay current and always expanding his tool-box.

Jacob works with individuals and small groups dedicated to getting back on track with your lifestyle and performance needs. He is an educator and coach using the principles of structural balance, holistic nutrition and lifestyle management. His clients are often more knowledgable (and stronger!) then many trainers. As a co-founder of Motus Training Studio, husband and father he understands the meaning of balance and the importance of putting yourself on the to do list before time does it for you.

Certification include: PICP Level 2 Strength Coach, Fascial Stretch Therapist (FST), BioSignature Level 2, Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncturist and many other courses and internships globally in strength training, rehab and cutting edge nutrition. Jacob is also a faculty member of Training in Power Academy of Meditation ( teaching Level 1 and Level 2 courses at Motus. Coaching Session

Every relationship starts with a thorough health history and movement screen focused on functional movement systems and a Neurokinetic Therapy and functional movement systems-based approach to limitations and dysfunctions/imbalances.


This monthly services includes 8 hours of monthly training and/or coaching, BioSteel pre/post workout and responsive email and text based support. Clients also have access to "open gym" times throughout the week and preferred spots in group training programs.

Jacob Lay

Coaching Session

Discover and integrative approach to strength and wellness. As both a strength coach and health care practitioner we will go through full health history pertaining to your goals and concerns. Together we will build a strategy that best suits your lifestyle. We can work with everything such as fitness, strength, mobility, rehab, diet, performance, hormone based weight loss to optimizing health and many other health concerns. You will go through a physical assessment to discover where your weakness and strengths lie enabling us to create a program tailored to your body and goals. In a session we use what is necessary to develop your physical and mental strength including Strength Training, Fascial Stretch Therapy, Nutrition/Supplementation, Acupuncture and Meditation.

Coaching Packages (8 and 12 session)

Many clients looking at building a strength training based wellness program into their lives invest in a package. This not only lowers the price per session but enables us to work with more long term goals of integrating a sustainable program into your life. Be it learning the progressions of new movement patterns to rehabilitating old un-dealt with injuries, building a new stronger and healthier you takes time. Many clients find it a worthwhile endeavour and improves the quality of life on many levels.
